After feigning indignation at being mistaken for a masters runner in my last post, Dave had a great comeback stating he meant "Jedi master" but had just forgotten the crucial adjective. Well played, Mr. Mackey. But it turns out he was right after all.
As of this year, the World Master's Association dropped the age of eligibility to 35. The 100km World Championships are also doubling as the World Master's 100km Championships. I just navigated a very confusing Italian website to submit my application to run as a master. And sadly, I do not mean Jedi master. I mean the old-geezer kind.
35 is the new 40. :)

Seriously? SERIOUSLY? Not that this is ever going to be an issue for me (world championship lol) but I just turned 35 and now I'm a MASTER?
omg. I need some time to process this.
By the way: hi! I don't think I have ever commented on your blog, but enjoy reading (found it via a link somewhere...) - I just had a baby and find your ultrarunning adventures inspirational as I attempt to get back into some semblance of shape :)
Welcome to geezerhood,Pam! And congrats on joining the ranks of LaSportiva too! Lookin' forward to seeing you in Italia!
Heather - thanks for reading! And welcome to the ranks of Master! Don't worry, I think in the US 40 is still pretty much the cut-off.
Annette- looking forward to Italy! Being an old-geezer...not so much! As my Grandpa says, better than the alternative!
Pam, Pam, Pam... I'm just getting used to the idea that I'm going to be 35 and in a new age group and all... now you're telling me I'm going to be considered masters? I've got to think on this one ;)
